Holly:
Holly is a wonderful Belgian / Fjord mare with a docile and loveable personality, and was donated to PARDS by DJ Korol. She is a very patient, very hard-working lady who likes to take it slow and makes a great partner for so many of our riders.
Tidy:
Tidy is an Appaloosa Quarter horse who loves to socialize and talk while he is working. He is free-leased to PARDS from Dr. Dale MacDonald. Tidy's skills and knowledge help bring out the best in all his riders.
Brooke:
Brooke is a dark bay Morgan-cross with a caring and kind disposition, and is free-leased to PARDS from Flora Ward. Brooke works extremely well with all her riders and just loves taking care of everybody around her.
Root Beer:
Root Beer is a Fjord-cross and our resident teddy-bear. He also is generously free-leased to PARDS from Flora Ward. Don’t let Root Beer's size intimidate you - he’s just a big sweetie-pie and loves all of his riders.
Finale:
Finale is a dainty Welsh-cross, donated to PARDS by Maryann Jackson. Although she has a background in show-jumping, here at PARDS she lives a far more casual lifestyle and works very well with all our riders. During the colder months her winter coat gets quite fuzzy, so you may hear us affectionately refer to her as our little chipmunk.
King:
King is a gentle dun Quarter horse who enjoys being on the go and loves to work. He is free-leased to PARDS from Laurie L Sutherland. When King is relaxing, you’ll most likely find this low-key horse chewing on something – he especially loves his carrots!
EnCana:
This little Fjord has been with PARDS for many years and is the namesake of the very company who made it possible for him to join our team. He is loved by all and loves everyone. EnCana is famous for his “Smiles” and has a true following of many of our riders.
Rainmaker:
Horse of the year in 2006, Rainmaker is a long time Staff member and is loved by everyone who has come in contact with this wonderful Paint / Appaloosa.
Ernie:
A magnificent Quarter Horse, Ernie is a big part of our lessons. He was kindly donated to PARDS by Tom Duggan. Ernie's kindness and gentle nature has made him a favourite friend of all his riders, and is PARDS 2010 Horse of the Year.
Vern:
Vern was donated to PARDS in 1993 in Memory of Eivend Lee, and has been working happily in our program ever since. Vern is very tolerant with riders of all abilities, and trained to pull riders in the cart as well. Vern took a short break into retirement with a family in 2010, but he missed his home here so he came back and he never looked back! Riders, staff and volunteers are all happy to see Vern's every loving spirit back in the barn and he's keeping everyone on their toes as our 'resident escape artist'!
Candy:
Candy is an Appoloosa / Fjord cross. She was graciously donated to PARDS by Wayne Drysdale with the hopes that she will enjoy a long career as a PARDS horse. Candy has a kind, calm, willing personality and loves attention from people of all ages.
Ribbons:
Ribbons is a Connemara / Morgan cross mare who is currently being leased to PARDS by Marlene Semsch. She is a fabulous addition for our beginner riders in our Public Riding Program. Everyone falls in love with her within moments of meeting her, and we're working hard to see if she will work as a PARDS Therapy horse.
Our Miniatures
Our two miniatures have made themselves right at home here at PARDS. They love the attention they get from everyone who comes through the gate. They were brought into our PARDS family to provide a grooming program for clients who may be nervous or intimidated by large animals and for our Equine Facilitated Wellness (EFW) Program. Although they are small in stature, their hearts are huge!
Hot Wheels:
A miniature bay, this feisty little character just loves his treats! Kindly donated to PARDS by Rhonda Lynne Lanctot, Hottie is a happy little guy who can be quite the funny clown with that cute smile of his.
Petunia:
This pretty little palomino miniature has a wonderful disposition and is a very sweet girl indeed! She's a gentle horse who just loves to have fun.
Feline Staff
Squeek:
A slightly chubby calico with a very demanding attitude. If she wants treats or attention it should be now!
Mrs Howell, Ginger & Marianne:
These three kittens will soon be our mouser extraordinaire group! They are learning the ways of the barn and the horses slowly, currently they are just destroying the office with their playful attention-seeking!
